Illinois Chiropractor Accused of Secretly Recording Naked Patients

In a shocking development, a west suburban chiropractor is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly recording nearly 200 patients in the nude. David Hanson, the forty-three year old owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia, is accused of recording patients ranging in age from young children to adults. The youngest alleged victim in this case is three years old.

What We Know About the Case

In September, investigators received a tip through the cyber sex abuse hotline. Investigators followed up on this lead and Hanson was placed under arrest on Wednesday, November 5th, 2025. His arrest followed a warrant search at his chiropractic office and residence. The investigation of Hanson’s workplace and home was conducted by the Child Exploitation Unit of the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Batavia Police Department. During the search, authorities found child pornography on the suspect’s cellphone and personal laptop, along with more than 180 explicit videos tied to the chiropractor’s office. At this point, the earliest video dates back to 2017, but forensic analysts are still investigating the data to uncover more information.

The majority of the victims in this case are female, and many of the recordings appeared to be taken from a red-light room used for red-light and infrared therapy. This therapy requires a person to be either fully or partially nude. Many chiropractor offices provide this treatment, but Hanson used hidden cameras placed throughout his office to illegally record his patients in various states of undress. The cameras were hidden behind vents or fans, so that they would not be visible to patients.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser noted that “we do know it is an excessive amount of child sex abuse material, as well as other unauthorized recordings that were found through this investigation.”

What Are the Charges Against David Hanson?

Hanson is currently facing the following charges, all of which are felonies:

  • Producing Child Pornography, Class X felony (5 counts)
  • Disseminating Child Pornography, Class X felony (3 counts)
  • Possessing Child Pornography, Class 2 felony (6 counts)
  • Unauthorized Video Recording of a Minor Through/Under the Clothes, Class 3 felony (3 counts)

He appeared for a detention hearing on Thursday, November 6th, where a Kane County judge ordered him held in custody due to the risk posed to the community if he were released. He is due back in court on Monday, November 10th. If you or someone you know is a victim of Hanson, please email SAOVictimHotline@KaneCountyIL.gov or call (630) 444-3322.
